HEAD SHOTS:: Penelope Rose
There is a first time for everything! It is tough photographing an infant. Penelope is 4 months old and was a great model. She did well but me, not so much. It was rough working in a tight space with only partial natural lighting. I felt like a ninja trying to avoid shadows or blocking her light. All the while trying to give her eye lines. She was such a trooper.
We had a few wardrobe changes and took plenty breaks. She mainly stared at the lens with a look of intrigue but would give great smiles and giggles. The sun was moving so several adjustments had to be made. The whole time I was focusing on so many factors (technical and mental) because I have never photographed a baby/infant for head shots. This was great practice. Luckily, most babies won't really need head shots, just clear pictures of themselves that can be taken with a camera phone. The next step will be basic baby portraits! I'm sure that will be fun...
