WE'VE BEEN SELECTED!

CONGRATS TO THE CAST & CREW!

Please read the wonderful email we received from the festival Director:

DELAY IS NOT DENIAL. IN 2020, THE YEAR OF PERFECT VISION, IT'S REALLY JUST DELAY!
With that, I hope you're well during these unprecedented times. Thanks for your submission to the 2020 Diversity in Cannes Short Film Showcase and for your patience as I pivot in response to the global pandemic taking the whole world by storm.

As you know, official selections were announced in May and Diversity Day was postponed consistent with the recommendation of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). Today, four months later, while the rest of the world has flattened the Corona Curve, the United States struggles to contain the virus, which disproportionately affects the black community.

Moreover, consistent with the incompetence of the current administration, AmeriKKKA struggles to contain racist police, which disproportionately affects the black community, yet again. Unarmed black men and women are being murdered at alarming rates, by those paid to protect and serve. Equally egregious is the failure of the judicial system to indict and prosecute these cowards, perpetuating the myth that black lives don't matter.

As a black woman, I stand in solidarity with the protestors, the activists and the committees mobilized to defund the police. I even support those who choose more aggressive methods by which to display their anger, as I wholeheartedly believe, you can't declare war and dictate how the victims fight.

Screaming black lives and black stories matter, my weapon of choice is media, film and television in particular, as it plays an integral role in shaping global people perceptions. Therefore my contribution to the revolution, as mentioned in my Juneteenth message, is the gift of additional black voices to the 2020 Diversity in Cannes Short Film Showcase (online edition) and I'm excited to announce your film as an official selection. Specifics forthcoming.

Thanks,
Yolonda
