PORTRAITS:: Alphonso x La Jolla, CA

Alphonso Hughes, Jr is my favorite paternal cousin. He came out to visit me last year while on break from his training at the Salvation Army officer corp. We haven't seen each other since the death of my eldest brother, Yaphet, way back in May of 2004. He wasn't even in middle school yet.

I was so excited to have him in town for a few days. He flew into Bob Hope and stayed for 3 days I recall. We hiked in Griffith Park overlooking the observatory and Hollywood sign. We walked Hollywood blvd late at night while the freaks were out creeping. He did some PA work on my TV pilot and gained a credit on IMDb. =) 

We originally planned to visit Santa Monica, but I believe we opted out for another adventure. I also took him to San Diego, CA for a day and we visited one of my favorite places. La Jolla beach. It was a nice day out and everyone was out enjoying the weather and the beach with their families. I snapped these photos as we walked the cliffs and he looked over the Pacific for the first time.

I am so proud of this young man's accomplishments in life so far. Especially knowing the environment we grew up in. He has always been dear to my heart and a total inspiration to keep striving for my dreams, because I know he is out there looking up to me to keep the dream alive and to keep accomplishing my goals. Alphonso, I adore you...
