SHORT FILM:: Shakespeare @ The Laundromat

A short film I was hired to produce earlier this year is a really cool experimental short. It features several Shakespearean monologues told in a very modern and gritty setting. We shot it in one night at a laundromat in Van Nuys, CA. It was considered an overnight shoot, but it was only for 8 hours from 7pm to 3am.

We had a very colorful and talented cast. We had some acting veterans from several different acting backgrounds but they worked seamlessly together. The dialogue is completely in Shakespearean and wardrobe and production design are all modern. The director, John Middleton, is a dear colleague and friend of mine who had thought of this concept over 20 years ago while living on the streets of North Hollywood. He was surrounded by several of the characters he chose to highlight in this short. The monologues he chose are haunting and sorrowful as they tell a tale of once night in a laundromat. It was an honor and pleasure producing his very first film.

We were blessed enough to feature some great talent that you may catch in several TV show or movies in theaters, on Netflix or in your local Red Box! Tania Zee (Internship Games), Lindsay McGrail (Entourage, Sons of Anarchy), Howard McNair (The Haunting of Whaley House), Sushana Watkis (Ray Donovan), Myles Cranford (Law & Order, The Office, College Humor), Aaron McNeal and Danny Mitchell (Chocolate City). We also had Latina Vamp of the Pink Mink Mafia representing with a cameo in our short & Edward Kasper (CSI, Sons of Anarchy, Californication).

I can't wait to screen and submit the film for the world to enjoy, but until then, check out two of our trailers and our cool stills from the shoot.
